KANNUR: K.K. Shylaja, MLA, has said the media and the police should act for ensuring justice in society.

Inaugurating a seminar on ‘Media and the police' organised here on Saturday in connection with the State conference of the Kerala Police Association, Ms. Shylaja said proper functioning of the executive, the legislature and the judiciary was contingent upon the media's role as an objective observer.

She said the country was still far behind in terms of development even after 60 years after becoming a Republic. The media had a great responsibility to discuss this in an objective and factual manner, she said. “The media's role has never been greater than today when there are large numbers of anti-social elements and when religion is trying to control the government,” she added. Police Association State president K. Rajan presided. Convener K.G. Prakashkumar, journalists P.P. Sasindran, A.V. Anil Kumar and town Circle Inspector P.P. Sadanandan were present at the seminar.
