The Thiruvananthapuram district wing of the All Kerala Bank Retirees Federation staged a sit-in on Saturday in front of the main branch of the State Bank of Travancore, demanding a solution to certain issues the federation had been raising over the years.

The sit-in, preceded by a protest rally, was following a call by the All India Bank Retirees Federation for a nationwide protest that included similar agitations at 82 centres across the country.

The demands raised during the protest included periodic revision of pensions, revision of basic pay of retirees based on the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, uniform dearness allowance, and medical scheme for all retirees, representation of retirees in pension/welfare funds and so on.
