He was suspended for union activities
The Industrial Disputes Tribunal termed it illegal
KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode district committee of the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) on Tuesday felicitated Pradeep Kumar Sarangi who was reinstated in his post in the Union Bank of India.
Mr. Sarangi, the national president of the BEFI and leader of the Union Bank of India Employees’ Federation, was suspended from service in 1999 for union activities.
The Industrial Disputes Tribunal had termed the suspension illegal and ordered that he be reinstated. The management preferred an appeal against this in the High Court.
Following negotiations with the union, the management reinstated Mr. Sarangi on March 16.
