Bharanaparishkaravedi has said that former Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan must steps down as National Human Rights Commission Chairman and he and his family members should be inquired into effectively.

In a statement here on Thursday, Bharanaparishkaravedi general secretary K. N.K. Namboodiri said the stand taken by Mr. Balakrishnan on the disclosure of judges' wealth was in itself suspicious. Under the circumstances, the Central government should order an inquiry into the allegations against him and his relatives. Mr. Balakrishnan should stay away from the NHRC post till the inquiry was completed. If he was not ready to do so, the President should take steps to remove him, Mr. Namboodiri said.
