KOCHI: T. Balakrishnan, Principal Secretary (Industries & Commerce), has said his views about the Coca-Cola factory at Plachimada are purely his own personal observations and that he sticks to them.

Industries Minister Elamaram Karim had remarked that the Secretary's view was his personal stance and not of the government's.

“Of course, it is my personal view and not the government's,” Mr. Balakrishnan told The Hindu on the telephone. “I stand by every word I spoke at the seminar.” When pointed out that his views could be interpreted as supportive of Coca-Cola, he said: “Yes, of course they are.”

Mr. Balakrishnan noted that those who spoke at the development seminar organised by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) in Kozhikode had expressed their own views. He had also made his own personal observations and there was nothing wrong about it, the Secretary added.
