Hamad Al Khalifa’s two-day visit to State begins today
Bahrain’s heir apparent Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa will visit India for two days from Sunday, with focus firmly on Kerala.
With several Indians, most of them Keralites, having made it big in Bahrain, the Gulf kingdom is keen on investing in Kerala.
During his stay in Kerala, the Crown Prince will hold discussions with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, State and Union Ministers and senior officials to discuss cooperation in political, economic, and cultural issues.
Prince Salman will be accompanied by a high-level official delegation including a number of leading businessmen.
“India is one of the Asian economies that have achieved major strides commercially and industrially. His Royal Highness’ visit to the Indian State of Kerala emphasises the ongoing economic and trade cooperation, building on existing agreements and understandings between India and the Kingdom of Bahrain,” said a news release from the Bahrain embassy.
“The visit also pays tribute to the invaluable contribution of the Indian community to Bahrain society,” it added. .
Bahrain is also keen on cooperation in the information technology (IT) sector. The Kerala government is already partnering the UAE in the SmartCity project in IT.
The State could make a similar offer to Bahrain during the Prince’s visit.
