Fisheries Minister K. Babu has sent a legal notice to Bharatiya Janata Party leader K. Surendran and Asianet News Network asking them to withdraw the “slanderous statements” raised against him related to the solar scam and tender unconditional apology.

Mr. Babu also demanded Mr. Surendran to pay within seven days Rs.50 lakh towards damages caused to his reputation. Asianet was asked to telecast an apology and broadcast it with prominence at consecutive intervals for an entire day within 24 hours from the notice. Mr. Babu said that the statements aired on the channel were false. It lowered his esteem among the public , the notice send through C.S. Ajith Prakash said.

Meanwhile, Congress legislator Hibi Eden challenged Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan to produce evidence to prove his connections to the accused in the solar scam.

Mr. Eden said that he was ready to end his public life if Mr. Natesan could produce any proof to substantiate his allegations. Legal action, including filing of defamation case, would be initiated against Mr. Natesan for making the scandalous statements, he said.
