Temples should be elevated to cultural centres, says TDB president

Hindu temples were not mere places of worship and should be elevated to the status of cultural centres, M.P. Govindan Nair, Travancore Devaswom Board president, has said. The TDB chief was inaugurating the valedictory meet of the Ayyappa Sathram on the Sree Raktakandaswami Temple premises at Omalloor near Pathanamthitta on Wednesday.

Mr. Nair said it was good to see people’s enthusiasm for restoration of ancient temples across the State. “This is the age of Hindu cultural restoration and the TDB has prepared projects aimed at positively exploiting this situation for the goodness of society,” he said. The TDB chief said the board would provide more facilities for spiritual education across the State.
