The 34th annual State Council Meeting of the Ayurveda Medical Association of India (AMAI) will be held here on Sunday.

AMAI leaders said the organisation had demanded pay revision for doctors and teachers working in private ayurveda colleges and self-financing colleges. They pointed out that the current pay scales were highly inadequate and needed immediate hike.

The association has also called for increasing the number of PG diploma seats in ayurveda colleges and also for allowing private ayurveda colleges to commence PG diploma programmes. The leaders pointed to the lack of proper representation for ayurveda in the Services and also in Indian Railways. This has to be rectified, they said.

The Association also called for brining parity among doctors practising modern medicine and Indian systems of medicine, under the Director of Health Services.
