Malabar Cultural Association in association with Dr. Moosa Heart Foundation will organise a week-long public awareness programme in connection with World Heart Day on September 29.

N. V. Sreedharan, secretary of the association, and Dr. M. K. Moosakunhi, president, said that the campaign will begin on Thursday.

A seminar on heart diseases will be held at Ernakulam Town Hall on September 28. People from various walks of life will participate in a walkathon to be held on September 29. Free heart check-up camps will also be held as part of the programme.

The theme for the World Heart Day is ‘One world, one home, one heart'.

The focus is on creating a heart healthy home atmosphere by inculcating healthy food habits, discouraging smoking and increasing physical exercise at the family level, they said.

A ‘stop heart attack mission' will be implemented across the State by the organisers of the programme in the coming days.
