The District Environment Protection Coordination Council is organising a three-day programme here to create awareness about protection of Ashtamudi Lake, which is facing environment degradation.

The programme will be held on the banks of the lake near the KSRTC depot on January 27, 28, and 30.

On January 27, there will be a get-together of artists and spot painting on Ashtamudi Lake-based sceneries. P.K. Gurudasan, MLA, will inaugurate the programme.

Painter Levi Ravikumar, T.G. Suresh Kumar, Asramam Santosh, K.R. Rajesh, K.R. Ganesh, Guruprasad, Ajit Plakkad, Anil Ashtamudi, Baiju Punukannur and Shenlay will participate.

A cultural conference to be held in the evening will be inaugurated by former editor of Janayugam Thengamam Balakrishnan. Chavara K.S. Pillai will preside. On January 28, a media gathering will be held in the evening.
