The Alumni Society of Association for Overseas Technical Scholarships Kerala (ASA Kerala) is organising a function to give away awards for the best ‘Young Engineering Talents' of the year and presentation of winning projects at the Nippon Kerala Centre at Kinfra Hi-tech Park, Kalamasserry, on Sunday.

The awards, instituted by Japan-based non-government organization, ASA, are for the best three innovative ideas that make way for a better future. The award-winning entries were selected from projects submitted by scores of students from various engineering colleges across Kerala. The first prize winner will be given a cash award of Rs.1 lakh while the second and third place winners will get Rs. 50,000 and Rs.25,000 respectively. The awards will be presented by Kochouseph Chittilapilly, managing director, V-Guard Industries.

The independent jury who selected the three winning projects comprised Kochouseph Chittilapilly; Navas Meeran, vice-president, Eastern Group; Suresh Kumar, Principal, Modern Engineering College; and John Kurian, head, R&D, Supra Group.

The best 20 projects will be presented at the Nippon Kerala Centre on the same day. Students will also be given an opportunity to interact with eminent industrialists who have been invited to review the projects. The project exhibition will be open to public between 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
