The steep increase in auto fare by almost 50 per cent is unjustifiable. The fare from Taliparamba to Mazhoor, which was Rs. 80 earlier, has been arbitrarily raised to Rs.120.
Commuters do not have a forum to register their complaints. Autorickshaw drivers, however, remain under the protection of trade unions.
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has hiked the power tariff exponentially without informing the public the actual effect of the hike under various slabs.
A notice from the board says that new rates are applicable for all slabs.
Even after a two-and-a-half-hour load-shedding, the board has not been able to reduce power consumption. No deliberations are expected in the meetings of power regulatory commission with the stakeholders and hike is on the cards in the State yet again.
