PALAKKAD: President of District Body Building Association and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) executive committee member V.K. Sreekhandan has alleged that the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and its feeder organisations are trying to capture the Palakkad District Sports Council by using bogus associations to get into the voters list.

In a statement here on Monday, he alleged that CPI (M) and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) leaders had floated district associations that existed only on paper and got into the voters’ list while leading sportspersons do not find their name in the voters’ list.

Well-known sports personality and Arjuna award-winner M.D. Valsamma, coach A.K. Kutty and many other sports personalities did not figure in the new voters’ list of the district association, he said.

The State Sports Council rule was that to get into the voters’ list, associations should have eight clubs as members.

They should conduct annual district championships and send a team to the State championship. They should also conduct annual general body meetings and pass the audited accounts which should be given to the State association.
