M.R. Raghava Varier, renowned epigraphist, historian and head of the publication wing of Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala, was felicitated at a function held at Arya Vaidya Sala on Thursday.

Dr. Varier’s presentation at a recent international seminar on ‘Routes, Networks and Communities in the Medieval Indian Ocean’ held at British Museum in London had won him critical acclaim.

Armed with his rare knowledge and skills in epigraphy, Dr. Varier had thrown light on the commerce and trade that existed in the Indian Ocean region during the medieval period.

Dr. Varier had deciphered several documents and stone carvings found in South India. He was honoured under the banner of the Arya Vaidya Sala Executive Recreation Club. Arya Vaidya Sala general manager K.S. Mani draped Dr. Varier with a shawl. Dr. Varier shared his experiences in the British Museum.
