The trend of increasing religious intolerance in society is extremely disturbing, writer M. T. Vasudevan Nair has said.
Speaking after releasing a book ‘Samskarathinte Velicham' written by Thrissur Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath here on Saturday, he said erosion of value systems was the root cause for the tension in the country.
“Love and compassion are the hallmarks of this book. With its simplicity in language, the common man can very well relate with the content of the book. It looks beyond the boundaries of spirituality and deals with current issues in society,” he noted.
He hoped the book would enlighten the people to respect other religions and faiths and promote communal harmony.
Mr. Vasudeven Nair released the book by handing over its first copy to writer P.V. Krishnan Nair.
‘Samskarathinte Velicham' is a collection of thoughts that the Archbishop had shared with his listeners through the early morning programme ‘Subhashithangal' aired by the All India Radio. The book has a collection of 36 ‘Subhashithangal'.
P.V. Krishnan Nair, who has written the forward, said that such books should be widely read as the country was going though a turbulent period marked by religious unrest.
