Thiruvananthapuram: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) State president Panakkad Sayyed Hyderali Shihab Thangal has come out in support of the Centre's Right to Education Act, making it clear that his party was not prepared to take a prejudiced view about it.

Inaugurating a special convention of the district IUML unit here on Friday, Mr. Thangal, while terming the Right to Education Act “optimistic,” said his party would intervene if there was sufficient evidence that the Right to Education Act was against the interests of minority communities.

He said the constituents of the LDF were fighting one another without taking any measures to solve the basic problems of the people, he alleged.

The victory registered by the IUML and the UDF in the recent byelections to local bodies wards was an indication of the electoral trend in the run-up to the Assembly elections, he said.
