Their car collided with a tipper lorry at Thripunithura on Sunday morning.

KOCHI: Two persons were killed and two seriously injured when the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a 12-wheel tipper lorry in the early hours of Sunday morning at Thripunithura.

Satheesh, 26, son of Sukumaran, Villakodiyil House, Thripunithura and Anoop, 26, son of Ravindran, Anaplayithara House, Poonithura were the two killed in the accident which occurred near the Central theatre bus stop.

Seriously injured

Two others, Anoop, 27, son of Francis, Alappatt House, Maradu and Prashant, 25, son of Padmanabhan, Pullikkal Thudiyil House, Poonithura, were admitted to the Medical Trust Hospital with serious injuries.

Anoop, admitted to the neuro-ICU with multiple fractures and liver damage, is said to be in a critical condition, according to a Hospital spokesperson.

Prashath is in the post-operative ICU.

According to the Thripunithura traffic police, Anoop, who died, was driving the Indica car in which the four were travelling from S. N. Junction towards East Fort junction.

One-way

The main road around the Thripunithura town is narrow and is usually a one-way for heavy vehicles and the lorry was moving on the wrong side of the one-way, said the police.
