Kozhikode: U.R. Ananthamurthy, writer, will inaugurate a three-day cultural programme ‘Snehasangamam,' being organised by the district administration as part of the renovation of the Tali temple and the Mishkal mosque, at Mananchira Square at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Sashi Kumar, chairman, Media Development Foundation, will be the chief guest. Mayor M. Bhaskaran will preside.

A seminar on ‘The heritage of Malabar' will be held at 6 p.m. at the venue. Historians M.G.S. Narayanan, S.M. Muhammed Koya and K.K.N. Kurup will speak.

A cultural programme ‘Orumayude Peruma' featuring ‘Kaikottikkali,' ‘Kolkkali,' ‘Margamkali,' and Gujarati Garba will follow. A cultural exhibition ‘Heritage of humanity' will be held at the venue on all the three days from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Rare articles of historical import, including the sword gifted by king Cheraman Perumal to the Zamorin, the palanquin used by the chief Khazi of Kozhikode and photographs, will be displayed at the exhibition. Orators Vivekamrita Chaitanya, Rahmathulla Khasimi and Fr. Vincent Arakkal will speak during a seminar ‘Snehamanakhila Saramoozhiyil' on Friday.

A procession proclaiming the cultural heritage of Malabar will be flagged of by Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The procession, which will start from the Tali temple and the Mishkal mosque simultaneously, will converge at the Pushpa junction before moving to Mananchira Square.
