KOCHI: Steps have been taken to award and rate best offices, schools, and hospitals in the district.
The award and rating was part of the institutional sanitation programme launched during the last Gandhi Jayanthi. District Collector M. Beena asked the institutions to file the filled up application forms in this regard with the local body concerned by February 15. The district and taluk-level rating and award distribution would be based on a social auditing to be held subsequently. Hospitals in the district would be given the award for two years. Two hospitals and two public health centres would be awarded. The district medical officer would have to do the ground work for selecting the winner for the award comprising a purse of Rs. 10,000.
Two schools would be awarded at the revenue district level and this too would be for two years. While two schools would receive Rs. 20,000 each, two other schools would receive Rs. 10,000 each. The District Deputy Director, Education, would have to take necessary action on the applications.
Besides, best anganwadis in the district would also be recognised. District Social Welfare Officer would have to act on the applications in this regard by February 15. One anganwadi each in every block would be awarded.
The social audit would be completed within a week from the last date for the receipt of applications. The groups for carrying out the audit would be formed by Wednesday. Each group would comprise of a social activist, a people’s representative, and a retired government official as convener. The list of institutions securing the relevant grade would be submitted to the taluk-level committee for scrutiny.
The committee chaired by tahsildar would vet the list. At the district level a five-member committee chaired by the Additional District Magistrate would be responsible for the scrutiny.
One institution at the taluk level and three at the district level would be given awards. Besides, a three –grade rating would be given.
