The Kerala State Biodiversity Board has plans to establish a natural history museum depicting the rich biological diversity of the Western Ghats and the cultural heritage of the State.

Chairman of the Board Oommen V.Oommen told The Hindu that the project was conceived as an international museum to be located in the capital city.

“The declaration of the Western Ghats as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations is expected to make it easier to attract funds for the museum that would dedicate a major portion of its space to showcase the biodiversity of the region.

The State will have to provide the land and basic infrastructure,” he said.
