Thiruvananthapuram Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rajesh Agarwal inspected the various safety aspects at the Kollam railway station on Tuesday.

It was part of Mr. Agarwal’s safety inspection exercise in the entire division which is being carried out section-wise.

During the inspection Mr. Agarwal held talks with officers attached to various departments based in Kollam.

Apart from engineering, mechanical and security aspects, the inspection also covered facilities and problems at the station. The broad areas covered by the inspection included adequacy of infrastructure, fitness of track and bridges, location of signals, safeguards at level crossings, availability of clearances as per schedule of dimensions, safety consciousness, alertness and compliance of staff, adequacy of safety awareness campaigns, equipment, posters and guidelines in vernacular language and safety of systems, including monitoring through supervisors, control office, register, inspections and data loggers.
