Oleena Mahila Samajam in association with Green Bell Bio energy is organising a week-long exhibition of advanced garbage processing equipment and awareness programme at Big Bazaar from June 30 to July 7.
T. Sujatha of Oleena Mahila Samajam told reporters here on Friday that Minister for Social Welfare and Panchayats M.K. Muneer will inaugurate the exhibition at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Health and Education Standing committee chairperson of Kozhikode city corporation Janamma Kunhunni would preside over the function. District panchayat president Kanathil Jameela and Opposition leader at the Corporation M.T. Padma would participate.
Mani P. of Green Bell Bio energy said that waste management was a major problem faced by the local self governing bodies, politicians and administrators all over the State. The exhibition would focus on ways to process the waste at its point of origin. “The programme puts forth the slogan that waste is not to be thrown away, but could be a means of income. The exhibits include biogas plants, which could be used to produce energy for households and to light street lamps. The plastic waste could be recycled to create new products. Garbage can also be used to produce bio-fertilizers,” he said.
Besides biogas plants, the exhibition will feature waste disposer, organic liquids that help speedy disintegration of waste, pipe compost technology, and mud pot compost.
