State Police Chief Jacob Punnoose has said that the investigation into the killing of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T.P. Chandrasekharan will not be affected by any political interference. He told reporters here on Sunday that the probe was in the right direction. “Nothing will affect the inquiry. It is not being dictated by political considerations,” he said.

Asked to comment on CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan and party State secretariat member Elamaram Karim's criticism of the police, he said: “The duty of the police is not to offer explanations for statements made by political leaders.”
