Mar Ivanios College leads on third day with 95 points; strong competition in female individual category
KOLLAM: Colleges from Thiruvananthapuram maintained an impressive lead at the Kerala University Union Youth Festival 2009 on Thursday, the third day of the festival being held in Kollam.
Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram, maintained the lead on Thursday too with 95 points (at 8 p.m.) and is almost certain to bag the overall championship.
The Swathi Tirunal College of Music, Thiruvananthapuram, is second with 61 points followed by Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, with 60 points.
In the individual category, Vishnu Gopal of Government Medical College is leading with 24 points in the male category and will be declared Kala Prathibha on Friday.
In the female category, there is strong competition and depends on contests later in the day.
From Kollam colleges, Aswathy S. of TKM College of Engineering came first in cartooning; Sujeesh S. of Saint Gregorios College, Kottarakara, came first in recitation (Malayalam); Arun Raj N. of SN College, Kollam, came second in mimicry (male); and Volga R. of SN College for Women came second in recitation (Malayalam).
Education Minister M.A. Baby will inaugurate the valedictory function on Saturday evening at the SN College open air auditorium.
Actors Vineeth Srinivasan and Meera Nandan will give away the prizes.
