THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) president K. Muraleedharan has said that the Congress was opposing secular democratic forces instead of fighting communalism and by doing this the party was burying Gandhian values.

Addressing his workers on the occasion of the Republic Day celebrations of his party, Mr. Muraleedharan said the AICC plenary in Hyderabad had proclaimed that it would oppose secular forces.

The content of the BJP's Mumbai resolution was on similar lines.

The Congress, he said, had alienated itself from the secular tenets upheld by Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
