CCPLM Higher Secondary School to represent district in State-level competition

KOCHI: Various school bands gave a colourful start to the School Kalothsavam 2005-06 in Ernakulam Revenue District, being held in various schools at Thripunithura.

CCPLM Higher Secondary School, Perumanoor, was adjudged the best performer by the judges, who evaluated the bands on various parameters such as turnout, marching and formation, standing play, dress code, drum solo, trumpet solo and the playing of the national song.

Of the five teams that participated in the band play, three teams were given A grade for their performance, while CCPLM was selected to represent the district in the State-level competitions on the basis of a few outstanding feats. According to the judges, they outshone in formation and dress code.

Most other participants lacked in innovative styles in marching and formation, they said.

There were few changes in the age-old formations by other participants.

CCPLM had won the State-level competition earlier three consecutive times.

This is the school's fourth entry into the State-level competition.

The formal inauguration of the four-day Kalothsavam will be held on Thursday with a procession (starting at 3 p.m. ) preceding the function at 5 p.m., which will be addressed by Minister for Education E.T. Mohammed Basheer.
