KOCHI: Oberon Mall, said to be the largest lifestyle mall in Kerala, was inaugurated by Minister for Home and Tourism Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on the Edappally-Vytilla NH bypass on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that such malls open up arenas to enhance “shopping tourism” in the State.

“A fast-developing Kochi will attract more investments, especially in tourism and allied sectors,” Mr. Balakrishnan said, before going round the mall.

The 3,50,000-sqft building is built on two acres of land. The fully air-conditioned building is spread across five floors.

The mall houses shops that offer branded wear and other items, apart from food courts and amenities for children to play.

The CMD of Oberon group, M.A. Mohammed, said the mall was a dream project for him and his team.

“Kochi is vying with other metros to provide a world class shopping experience to Keralites and tourists visiting the city. The mall aims to fulfil this need for a world class shopping experience, next to your doorstep.”

He said the mall would offer visitors entertainment and a rich shopping experi ence.A press release issued by Oberon Group says that the promoters have paid much attention to the security and safety of the shoppers.

A unique concept of user movement patterns has been adopted for the positioning of passageways, ramps, escalators and stairways, to ensure comfortable movement within the mall. The mall was conceptualised, developed and promoted by the Oberon Group of companies, India, and the Flora Group of Dubai.
