Kannur: Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan, on Thursday, stressed the need for more aided institutions to provide education to all sections of people in Kerala.

Talking to presspersons here, he said the State Government should encourage aided schools and institutions for the benefit of the poorer sections and ensuring equal chances for education to all people. While self-financing institutions were helpful to rich people, it was detrimental to the poor, as they could not get professional education. Mr. Natesan said the Yogam supported the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in its agitation against self-financing institutions in the State.

On the Narendran Commission report, he said the Government had taken a hasty decision, as the Assembly elections were near. The decision would not help the targeted people, he said, adding that the Government should provide quotas for all sections of people based on their economic conditions. UNI
