Private bus workers to go on strikeKOCHI: Private bus workers in Kochi will go on a two-day token strike from April 1 in protest against the delay on the part of bus operators in giving fair wages. Area-wise indefinite stirs will be organised from April 3 to prevent inconvenience to commuters. In a press release issued here on Sunday, general secretary of the Private Bus Thozhilali Federation (AITUC) Joy Joseph said that workers had been pressing their demands for the past nine years. Although the bus fare was hiked nine times in the past 10 years, neither the bus operators, nor the labour officer had taken steps to give fair wages to the employees.
