THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Wednesday that Election Commission's clearance for implementation of the Government decision on pay revision would be sought again during the panel's visit to the State on Thursday.

This was against the background of the Assembly passing a unanimous resolution seeking implementation of the decision, which had been deferred on orders of the commission.

Thanking the Opposition for cooperating with the resolution, the Chief Minister said that it would have helped if the Opposition had attended the conferences convened by the Government earlier.

He told media persons that the implementation of the Pay Revision Committee report would not tend to influence the voters. There could also be the contention that the increase in salaries was insufficient.

Asked if the Government's claim that it had implemented pay revision would not influence voters, Mr. Chandy pointed out that it had appointed the Pay Revision Commission and proceeded with the revision.

The Chief Minister said that the decision regarding electoral understanding with the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) was not in his hands. "Anything is possible in politics," he said.
