MALAPPURAM: Calicut University has extended to May 11 the last date to apply for its MBA programme offered at five centres, including the Department of Commerce and Management Studies on the university campus at Tenhipalam. Earlier, the deadline for MBA application was April 30.
The university will conduct a common entrance examination titled Calicut University Management Aptitude Test (CUMAT) on June 7 to select 200 students for the MBA programme.
Besides the Department of Commerce and Management Studies, the university will conduct MBA programmes at its Thrissur, Vadakara and Kozhikode centres as well as at the Management House at Palakkad. Forty students will get admission to the course in each centre. The course is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, said V.K. Janardhanan, Head of Department of Commerce and Management Studies.
The CUMAT examination will be conducted in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Thrissur, and Kannur, said Dr. Janardhanan.
Only 40 students who join at the Department of Commerce and Management Studies can do the MBA programme under the university’s Choice-based Credit Semester System (CCSS). The others will have to do it in the old annual mode.
The MBA programmes of Thrissur, Palakkad, Vadakara and Kozhikode centres will be on self-financing mode. The fee will be almost double that charged by the Department of Commerce and Management Studies on the campus. Calicut University has been offering MBA programmes since 1982, and this year’s will be the 27th MBA batch. Since 2001, the university has been offering MBA on self-financing mode as well.
