For refusing to accept election duty
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: District Collector N. Ayyappan has issued arrest warrant against S. Krishna Menon, an employee of the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Vellayambalam, for refusing to accept election duty. Mr. Ayyappan has directed the commissioner of police to arrest the employee with immediate effect.
Arrangements would be made in Aryanad to assist the blind to cast their votes using the Braille system. Dummy ballot sheets will be prepared for the purpose. This was announced in a release issued by Mr. Ayyappan today. The name of the candidates, their serial number and the name of the party will be listed in the same way, as it will appear on the voting machine.
The voters can cast their votes after verifying the dummy ballot sheet. The serial number of the candidates will be indicated in Braille script on the right side of the blue button on the voting machine.
The dummy ballot should be returned after casting the vote. The dummy ballot is prepared in English, Hindi and Malayalam. The copy of the dummy ballot sheets in all the three languages will be made available at every polling station.
A display of voting machine and its functioning for the voters of Neyyattinkara constituency will be held on Wednesday.
The display cum demonstration will be held at various panchayath offices at the following time: Ottasekharamangalam and Aryankode 10 a.m.; Perumkadavila, 11a.m.; Killikkad, 11.30 a.m.; Athiyannoor, noon.; Amburi and Neyyattinkara Municipal Town Hall, 1 p.m.; Vellarada, 3 p.m.
