Kozhikode: Sukumar Azhikode, orator and social critic, released the autobiography of K.V. Rabiya, an icon of the literacy campaign in Malappuram district, at the Tagore Centenary Hall here on Saturday.

Prof. Azhikode hailed Ms. Rabiya as a rare model for fighting against odds and making her own history in the social service front. “She is a living model for surviving the toughest of physical challenges,” he said.

Prof. Azhikode, who compared the autobiography of Ms. Rabiya, Swapnangalkku Chirakukalundu (Dreams have wings), to some of the greatest biographies in history, said that she had shown the world that strong mental resolve and optimism could beat any adversities.

Malappuram district panchayat president Arimbra Muhammed received the first copy of the deluxe edition of the book from Mr. Azhikode. The standard copy was received by the former Minister A.C. Shanmukhadas.
