THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Southern Railway has introduced new trains and issued a timetable for the same, a press note issued here on Friday said.
The new schedule follows: Train No.2695/2696 Chennai Central- Thiruvananthapuram (daily) super-fast express introduced with effect from June 12 will have stops at Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tirupur, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam and Kollam. It will have one AC 2-tier, two AC 3-tier, 10 sleeper class, four general second class and two second class-cum-luggage van coaches.
Train No. 2695 will depart Chennai Central at 16.15 hours and arrive at Thiruvananthapuram Central next day at 07.30 hours. The pairing train No. 2696 will depart Thiruvananthapuram at 17.15 and arrive at Chennai Central on the next day at 09.30.
The Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram (weekly) super-fast express (2697/2698) will have stops at Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Erode, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam and Kollam. The date of commencement of this train will be notified later. The train will have one AC 2-tier, two AC 3-tier, 12 sleeper class, three general second class and two second lass-cum-luggage van coaches, the press note said.
Train No.2697 will depart Chennai Central on Sundays at 16.00 and reach Thiruvananthapuram Central the next day at 07.00.
The pairing train No.2698 will depart Thiruvananthapuram on Saturdays at 20.00 and reach Chennai Central on Sundays at 12.15.
The Chennai Central-Mangalore (tri-weekly) super-fast express (train No.2685/2686) will have stops at Katpadi, Erode, Podanur, Shoranur, Kozhikode and Kannur. Date of commencement of this train will also be notified later.
This train will have one AC 2-tier, one AC 3-tier, 10 sleeper class, four general second class and two second class-cum-luggage van coaches.
Train No. 2685 will leave Chennai Central on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 16.00 and reach Mangalore on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 07.40.
The corresponding train 2686 will leave Mangalore at 16.00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and reach Chennai Central at 08.00 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Mondays.
Another weekly superfast express (train No.2667/2668) will be started between Chennai Egmore and Nagercoil, the press note said.
The train will have stops at Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Trichy, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudunagar, Sattur and Tirunelveli. The commencement of this train will also be notified later.
The proposed train will have one AC 2 tier, two AC 3 tier, 10 sleeper class, three general second class and two second class-cum-luggage van coaches.
Train NO. 2667 will leave Chennai Egmore at 19.00 on Thursdays and reach Nagercoil on Fridays at 08.10. The pairing train No.2668 will leave Nagercoil on Fridays at 19.40 and reach Chennai Egmore the next day at 08.50.
Train to Bangalore
Train No.6316/6315 another weekly express will be started from Kochuveli to Bangalore and vice versa.
While the commencement of the train will be notified later, the train will have stops at Salem, Erode, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam Junction, Alappuzha and Kollam. This train will have one AC 2 tier, two AC 3 tier, 10 sleeper class, four general second class and two second class-cum-luggage van coaches.
Train No.6316 will leave Kochuveli on Sundays at 14.15 and reach Bangalore the next day at 07.15 hours. The corresponding train No.6315 will leave Bangalore at 18.55 on Mondays and reach Kochuveli on Tuesdays at 11.10.
It is also proposed to increase the frequency of Ernakulam-Bangalore superfast express from weekly to bi-weekly from July 5. (From Ernakulam on Wednesdays with effect from July 5 and from Bangalore on Thursdays with effect from July 6.)
The Thiruvananthapuram-Jodhpur Weekly Express will be extended to Bikaner with effect from July 22 (from Thiruvananthapuram) and from Bikaner on July 25.
The stops on the extended portion will be Meta Road, Nagaur and Nokha.
Diversion of train
Train No.6317/6318 Kanniyakumari-Jammu Tawi Weekly Express will be diverted via Chakki Bank without touching Pathankot. (Train No.6317 from Kanniyakumari with effect from July 14.)
Train No.6079/6080 (new No.2689/2690) Chennai Central-Nagercoil Weekend Express will run via Karur- Tiruchchirappalli- Dingigul instead of Karur-Dindigul. (Train No. 2690 from Nagercoil (Sundays) with effect from 2.7.2008 and train No.2689 from Chennai Central (Fridays) with effect from July 7.)
The following trains have been converted into super-fast express and renumbered with effect from July 1, the press note said.
Train No. 6079/6080 Chennai Central-Nagercoil Weekend Express will be 2689/2690; 5623/5624 Ernakulam-Guwahati Express will be 2507/2508; 5011/5012 Thiruvananthapuram-Gorakhpur will be 2512/2511 and 5221/5222 Ernakulam-Barauni Express will be 2522/2521, the release added.
