Thiruvananthapuram: The No. 1(Kerala) Naval unit National Cadet Corps (NCC) (Thiruvananthapuram) has bagged the overall first position in the Inter Group Nau Sainik championship (2006) of the Kerala and Lakshadweep NCC Directorate. The championship was held on the Thevally Kayal in Kollam from August 17 to 28. The unit also won the Best Whaler trophy.

The 12-day camp included competitions in boat pulling, sailing, firing, drill, semaphore, ship modelling and cultural programmes. Naval units from Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Kozhikode NCC groups participated.

The Thiruvananthapuram Group led by Captain N. Shreekumar scored a total of 378 points out of 400, to emerge winners.
