G. Sudhakaran announces Government's plans at meeting
KOZHIKODE: Minister for Devaswom G. Sudhakaran has said that the Government plans to form the Malabar Devaswom Board in 2007.
Mr. Sudhakaran announced the decision at a meeting of representatives of various organisations of temple employees in Malabar region here on Sunday. He said many temple trustees were found to have not paid the money of welfare fund of the employees and had made arrears of Rs.9 crore in this regard. Nearly Rs.2 crore was collected after the LDF Government came to power.
He said the Government would look into the issue of those temples which had not implemented the 2004 salary revision announced by the Government. The employees demanded that a uniform Devaswom Board be formed for the temples in the State. Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR & CE) commissioner M. Narayanakutty, deputy commissioners V.M. Damodaran and M. Komaleshan, Malabar Temple Employees Congress representative Kodoth Govindan Nair, Malabar Devaswom Employees Union (CITU) representatives V.V. Dakishnamoorthy and Venugopal, Malabar Temple Employees Association K.C. Radhakrishnan and Malabar Temple Executives Officers Association M. Sasidharan attended the meeting.
