THRISSUR: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president P.K. Krishnadas, on Friday, described the Sachar panel report as "distorted, politically motivated and dangerous.''

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Krishnadas said that reservation on the basis of religion would be harmful to the country.

"Muslim community has never been discriminated against in India. History tells us that India was once ruled by Muslims.

If a section of Muslims has not had proper education and jobs in modern India, blame it on Muslim religious heads,'' Mr. Krishnadas said.

The BJP State president demanded an investigation into the functioning of madrassas in the State in the context of an increasing number of religious institutions across the world reportedly becoming centres of terrorist activities.

Mr. Krishnadas said the BJP would be in an advantageous position in the Thiruvambadi byelection.

He alleged that the Achuthanandan Government was "seizing'' Hindu temples in the State.

The Devaswom Minister was evading his responsibilities, he added.
