‘Points raised against the CBI are proving true’
Says UDF propaganda influenced voters
KOLLAM: The SNC-Lavalin case is affecting the United Democratic Front now, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said.
He was inaugurating a public meeting here on Thursday organised in connection with the 43rd State conference of the Kerala Gazetted Officers’ Association.
Congress leader G. Karthikeyan was behind the SNC-Lavalin conspiracy when he (Mr. Karthikeyan) was the Power Minister in 1995, he said.
The media seemed to lose interest in the issue with the High Court directive to inquire about Mr. Karthikeyan’s role, he said.
The Central Bureau of Investigation appeared to be over interested in targeting CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan who took over as Power Minister in 1996.
The CBI is duty-bound to provide an answer to why Mr. Karthikeyan had not been included in the list of accused persons, Mr. Balakrishnan said. All these point to the CBI’s vested interests. The points raised by the CPI(M) against the CBI are turning out to be true, he said.
The UDF’s propaganda in the Lavalin case had influenced the voters during the Lok Sabha elections, he added.
