The Vainu Bappu Gallery was inaugurated by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, MLA, at the Kannur Science Park here on Saturday to commemorate Vainu Bappu, world renowned astronomer and father of modern Indian astronomy. Universities are more interested in affiliating colleges than providing a suitable background for researches, Mr. Balakrishnan said. Many more people hailing from Malabar remain to be identified and appreciated for their work in respective fields, he said.
