KOCHI: Are you ready to “touch and feel” the magic of science?
If the answer is yes, the Centre for Science in Society (C-SiS) at the Cochin University of Science and Technology is where you should be in the coming days.
Famous for its exciting programmes for popularisation of science among school children, the centre has now come up with its One Day Attachment Programme (ODAP) for school children.
Says K. G. Nair, director of the centre: “The programme is intended to provide ample experiment facility to children to learn science through interesting experiments using play models, gadgets and toys that are based on important science principles.
“The rare facilities like the Children’s Science Park, Science Pavilion, laboratories in physics, chemistry and biology, maths, computer science, and children’s science library will be fully utilised for the programme”.
Students get an opportunity to do simple science experiments with the help of instructors at the centre. Education through multimedia computers using audio and video CDs and science films are other attractions.
Children are familiarised with innovative teaching gadgets and toys. C-SiS has over 90 gadgets that encourage children to experience the philosophy of “learn while you play”.
