Activists try to enter civil station complex

KOLLAM: The police used force to chase away a group of All India Students Federation (AISF) activists when they tried to barge into the civil station complex here on Wednesday.

The AISF activists were on a march to the civil station demanding efficient methods for textbook distribution and closure of all unrecognised schools. The march began from Chinnakada.

The police were taken unawares when the marchers attempted to barge into the complex through the western gate. Only two policemen and an officer were present at the gate. But they managed to stop the demonstrators and chased them out of the complex. Courts were in session at the time of the incident.

The demonstrators then marched to the main gate and held a dharna there. The dharna was inaugurated by State vice-president of the AISF Jagat Jeevilal. District secretary Anub Abbas spoke and district president B. Vinil presided.
