KOZHIKODE: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) on Friday named Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal as the successor to the late Panakkad Mohammedali Shihab Thangal who died on August 1 last.

Though it was known earlier that Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal would be the next League State president, the official announcement came only on Friday.

He was given charge of the post on August 2 by the League’s State secretariat a day after the demise of his elder brother.

The League State working committee and State council, which held meetings on Friday, endorsed the party secretariat’s decision in this regard.
