Dubai: A Keralite, who was missing since the last four days, was found dead in his car which fell into the waters off a steep coastal cliff in Sharjah.

T.J. Sudhakar Kurup, 50, an employee of the United Arab Bank, was returning home after visiting a friend in Al Quoz in his car on Tuesday. He along with his car fell into the waters off Al Mamzar Corniche in Sharjah while trying to avoid a collision with another vehicle coming from opposite direction on the night of December 19, the police said. “For the past four days, his family and friends were frantically looking for him,” Basheer M.P., a close friend of Sudhakar and member of a Sharjah-based Indian organisation, Samadarshini, said.

“On Saturday, we got a call from the police saying his body was in the morgue. It came as a rude shock for all of us, especially his wife and two children, aged 4 and 16,” he said.

Sudhakar, a former general secretary of Samadarshini, hailed from Chirayinkeezhu. The police said they received a call at Al Buhaira Police Station at around 12.30 p.m. on December 19, about the accident. The Anjad Police, rescue team and coastguards of Civil Defence rushed to the spot. Coastguards removed the body from the car. The deceased was not carrying any identification card and was identified through the registration number of the car, they said. – PTI
