KOCHI: Catholic Bishops’ Council of Kerala (KCBC) education committee chairman Archbishop Mar Joseph Powathil said here on Tuesday that all the Christian churches will work together to protect the rights of their educational institutions.

Attempts to spread atheism or denial of god would be resisted, he added. He was speaking to the media after a meeting of Christian bishops of the State organised at the KCBC headquarters Pastoral Orientation Centre, Palarivattam.

Mar Powathil said he had been misinterpreted by the media. The Catholic Bishops had in the morning met heads of the 216 religious communities in the State to discuss the implementation of the policy of education formulated by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI).

In the afternoon, heads of Christian churches in the State had a combined meeting to review the situation on the education front and to formulate a policy to work together. Baselios Mar Chrysostom and Bishop Stanley Roman were present at the press conference.
