Minister’s remarks about Sara Joseph draw flak

KOZHIKODE: The Anweshi Women’s Council has criticised the reported defamatory statements made by Cooperative Minister G. Sudhakaran against Sara Joseph, writer and human rights activist.

K. Ajitha, Anweshi president, said here on Sunday that the Minister’s statement was a retort to any opposition against him or his party leader, Pinarayi Vijayan.

Ms. Ajitha said that such fascist stance was not in keeping with the stature of a Minister, and Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan was duty-bound to check the unhealthy trend.

Other members of the Cabinet too have that responsibility.

“I wish to bring to the notice of Mr. Sudhakaran that Ms. Sara Joseph is not alone, and the entire group of progressive-thinking women is behind her. We have no other option than to take this as a challenge,” she said.
