Hundreds of Sunni activists take out march to the SP’s office in Malappuram
MALAPPURAM: Hundreds of Sunni activists took out a march to the office of District Superintendent of Police here on Monday demanding justice in factional disputes over madrasas and mahals. The march, organised under the banner of the Samastha Mahallu Samrakshana Sangham, blamed the police for helping the Sunni faction led by Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliar in matters of dispute.
Inaugurating the march, Indian Union Muslim League district president Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal asked the police to shun ‘bias’ when dealing with issues of factional dispute. He said the Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama and its subsidiaries never encroached upon others’ property. Teachers and students of hundreds educational institutions across the district took part in the march wearing white clothes. Samastha Kerala Islam Matha Vidyabhyasa Board secretary K.T. Manu Musliar kicked off the march with a prayer from Sunni Mahal premises at Kizhakkethala.
Sunni leaders K. Mammad Faizi, Sayed Hameedali Shihab Thangal, S.M. Jifri Thangal, Kottumala T.M. Bapu Musliar, P.P. Mohammed Faizi and Abdul Hameed Faizi Ambalakkadavu led the march.
