THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Conference on Malayalam organised by the University of Kerala in connection with its ‘Suvarna Keralam’ celebrations will be inaugurated by the Minister for Education M. A. Baby here on November 1.
The three-day conference will be held at the Senate Hall, the Senate Chamber, the AKG memorial hall and the VJT Hall. Film maker Kumar Sahni will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.
The award for the best doctoral thesis in Malayalam — instituted by the University this year with financial assistance from the ‘Bhashakkoru Dollar’ programme run by NRI Malayalis — will be given to Smitha Gopal by Mr. Baby on the occasion.
As part of the conference, seminars on Malayalam language, culture, art forms, women in Kerala, the media in Kerala and translations will be held.
The meeting on literature will be inaugurated by Civil Supplies Minister C. Divakaran on November 2.
