ALAPPUZHA: The St. Mary’s Residential Central School (RCS), Alappuzha topped the Alappuzha Sahodaya Kalotsav 2007 held here earlier this week, bagging the overall championship with 466 points.

The youth festival, organised by the Sahodaya Schools’ Complex, a union of CBSE schools in the district, had over 700 students from nearly 10 top schools participating in four categories. Students of St. Mary’s RCS walked off with prizes and top grades in all categories, a release from the school said.

Sreya Sara Benoy, Sarika Krishnan, Aiswariya S., Sandra G., L. Kavya Nair and Megha R. Nair topped Category I while Subina Rasheed and Meera M. won prizes and A grades in light music, Arabic recitation, classical music, Hindi, Sanskrit and Malayalam recitations in Category II.

Nikhil John of Category III won prizes for Sanskrit recitation, light music, classical music and ‘mappilapattu’ while Candace E.K. Poppan bagged prizes in literary contests. Sharat Mohan won prizes in all literary items in the national language. Lekshmi Prabha, Nithya Thomas, Nikhitha Rajan, Vivek G., and Gopu C. won individual prizes in Category IV, the release added.
