Kozhikode: The Navajeevan Community Mental Health in West Hill in Kozhikode has been granted permission by the Director of Public Instruction (DPI) to conduct counselling sessions for teachers at the high school and higher secondary school levels. This will prepare them to help students with their personality development.

The DPI has however made it clear that the sessions should not affect normal work on school days. C.K. Anil Kumar, chief coordinator of the organisation, said the classes for teachers would be held only on public holidays or on Sundays or during school vacation so as to avoid disruption of normal functioning of schools.

Classes in August

The class would be of 20-hour duration. Experts would teach the basics in counselling. Teachers interested in attending the programme can register their names directly or through the headmaster of their school. A session for 50 teachers would be held during the vacation in August. No fee is charged for training. Bio-data of the participant should reach the Chief Co-ordinator, Navajeevan Community Mental Health, West Hill, Kozhikode within one week.
